Gift of life

RCC Saicity’s flagship project – Gift Of Life: A Lifesaving Initiative with Global Impact.

Since its inception in 2002, “Gift Of Life” has been the cornerstone of Rotary Club of Coimbatore Saicity’s (RCC Saicity) humanitarian efforts. In partnership with the Gift Of Life Foundation, USA, our mission has remained steadfast: to offer a lifeline to underprivileged children battling congenital heart diseases.

In India, where financial constraints and lack of awareness often deprive children of essential healthcare, “Gift Of Life” serves as a beacon of hope. Shocking statistics reveal that 8 out of every 1000 children are born with congenital heart defects, a condition exacerbated by economic hardship. For many families, the cost of treatment – ranging from Rs.80,000 to Rs.3,00,000 per child – is simply unattainable. Tragically, without intervention, these conditions claim the lives of countless children prematurely.

Since its inception, RCC Saicity has performed over 1300 surgeries, a testament to our unwavering commitment to this cause. This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of esteemed institutions such as Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, PSG Hospitals, Rotary Foundation, as well as the benevolence of our dedicated club members and philanthropists.
One of the defining features of “Gift Of Life” is its global outreach. Reflecting the international ethos of Rotary, our initiative has extended its healing touch to over 50 children from countries such as the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia.
In our relentless pursuit to expand our impact, RCC Saicity has secured several prestigious Global Grants:
  • Gift of Life for India (GG2234691): This grant, serving 90 patients, has been successfully completed. Presently, we are actively working on the next phase of this grant, with an expenditure of $50,986 allocated towards this endeavor this year.
  • Gift of Life for the Philippines (GG1991024): Through this grant, we have provided assistance to 7 patients, with an expenditure of $55,710 this year.
  • Gift of Life for Sri Lanka (GG2095520): This year, we have allocated $68,710 to support 6 patients in Sri Lanka.
  • These Global Grants epitomize our steadfast commitment to ensuring equitable access to healthcare, transcending geographical boundaries.
  • As we reflect on our journey, we are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and their families. “Gift Of Life” epitomizes our collective endeavor to not only save lives but also nurture dreams and foster a future filled with promise.
  • Together, let us continue to be the catalysts for change, spreading love, hope, and healing to those who need it most.
