| On the 9th May 1992 Rotary International became stronger with one more club added to its list by name Rotary Club of Coimbatore Saicity with Mr. Ramaswamy, as a Charter President and Mr. C. V. Raju as Charter Secretary and 41 charter members with the exemplary efforts of Rtn. PHF PP T. S. CHANDRAN as the GSR and the Dist. Governor Vallabhdas. The club was sponsored by ROTARY NORTH under the presidentship of Rtn. Dr. N. Govindarajulu. Its Charter was presented by Dist. Governor Rtn. B. R. Ajit on 31st Oct 1992. As mentioned earlier SAICITY never stayed as just one other club. In the first year itself, Somayampalayam village with needs all around it, was adopted. A dilapidated community hall was re-built and a disused temple renovated to the spiritual thrill of the villagers. President Rtn. Ramaswamy became the first PHF. Charter Secretary Rtn. C. V. Raju became a star Rotarian of the DISTRICT with his love, dedication and undisclosed financial contribution to the village. |

1993-94 Rtn. P. K. Arunachalam and Rtn. T. Sampathkumar took over as president and secretary respectively and respectfully. This year the focus was on village school fencing its boundaries, putting up toilet blocks etc. Also Saicity opened its doors to the philanthropist Coimbatorians to contribute to the social cause by organizing a fund raising programme. |
| The hero of RI Dist 3200 Rtn. C. V. Raju who took over as SAICITY PRESIDENT in the year 1994-95. The secretariat was handled by none other than Rtn. R. Venkatesan the intellectual ambassador of Saicity. A park by name "BHARATHI PARK" to the Somayampalayam especially to the children, on international standards, still an eye sore to the enviable neighbourhood villages, at an undisclosed cost, a bus shelter, addition of 13 more members, fund raising programme and Rtn. C. V. Raju becoming PHF are the highlights of the year. The club bagged the District award for the best club for balanaced activites and community service award. Rtn. C V RAJU also bagged the best President Award in 1995 – 1996. | ![]() |
| 1995-96 - After a year of youth and intellectual leadership came a year of maturity and discipline under the presidentship of Rtn. K. Alagiriswamy and the secretarial charge was with Rtn. C. Arthanareeswaran. Pluse polio immunisation programme, Bore well pump to the village, Fund-raising programme, Rtn. Alagiriswamy becoming PHF, representation of Rtn. P. R. Suresh to the RI convention at CALGARY-CANADA are the events of the year. |

1996-97 Rtn. R. Venkatesan and Rtn. Kamlesh Raheja, a made for each other duo took over as president and secretary respectively. To quench the thirst of adopted village, water tank for Somayampalayam, inauguration of Paul Harris annexe, expanded pulse polio programme area, hosting GSE team member, matching grant for polio corrective surgery, RYLA to the youth are the special events of the year. |
| Here comes OM the seventh president of Saicity in the year 1997-98, Rtn. Tulsidas Chatrumal Samant with Rtn. B. R. K. Thambi as secretary a massive record breaking 600 plus people were present for the installation at Priyakunj. Shri Priyakumar trust alternately chaired by Sri Hariram Chartumal almost becoming Saicity's own premises charitably extended to all its programmes throughout the years needs a special mention here. Commencement of new block for adopted village school at a cost of Rs.4.25 lakhs, to kindle the spirit of youth, Rotaract Club of Miracles, to recover the incapacitated, polio corrective surgery through Saicity Medical centre for the poor at J. M. Hospital, hosting to the inter-district youth exchange team from Mumbai, contribution to a 3H matching grant programme at SRILANKA are the highlights of the year. | ![]() |

Young at heart, NEVER SAY NO to Rotary, Rtn. T. Sampathkumar ably supported by Rtn. P. S. Srinivasan took over in 1998-99. The school building PAUL HARRIS ANNEXE was inaugurated by the District Collector to the joy of many. CHILDREN’S OPPORTUNITIES grant to the tune of US $ 5000 was applied and received from Rotary of the first time by Saicity. School classes were furnished at a cost of Rs.2.1 lakhs, Hepatitis "B" camp treatment throughout the year for the benefit of thousands, kept in touch with the youth by a RYLA camp, Rtn. P. R. Suresh with Ann Anitha joining the month l ong friendship exchange visit to Canada saw the satisfaction of our club, Seenu and Sampath for the year. The club bagged the RI for Presidential citation for outstanding club participation in the four avenues of service and the District award for the best community service project under village adoption. |
| The SPIRIT OF SAICITY touched its pinnacle as Rtn. B. R. K. Thambi and Rtn. P. R. Suresh took over as the leaders of millennium. Perestroika.......................Change of venue from Gujarathi Samaj to Hotel SuryaInternational . 100% growth in membership, from 34 to 68 . A flash Fund-raising programme. Maximum number of family outstation picnics. Highest contribution to district conference and Regional fund. EYE CARE, EAR CARE (with a regional seminar). Rs.50,000 worth medical assistance to many poor and needy patients. Birth to ROTARACT CLUB OF SAICITY, water tank to school of SIRUMUGAI. Caution boards at Railway station through RPF. Leading the successful millennium celebrations of Rotary clubs of Coimbatore with 500 plus participants. Recognition of honest Policeman and Bank officer who resorted more than Rs. 10 lakhs worth cash and jewellery to the owner. Hosting of two GSE members by the club. Rtn Tulsidas (OM) became PHF. 9 more members became PHSMs. A CLUB DIRECTORY - PAR - excellence with family and passport size photo of all sixtyeight members. Launching of community service project "RENOVATION OF NOON MEAL CENTRES" at a cost of nearly Rs.8 lakhs with the support of the district administration are the achievements of the year. | ![]() |

2000-2001, saw Rtn. Kamlesh Raheja taking over as President ably assisted by Rtn. B R Rajarathinam as Secretary. A major fund raising programme with over 2000 persons as audience, Higher annual giving of US $ 3600 to TRF, GIFT OF LIFE project for heart surgeries, teachers vocational training OPERATION, Black Board for 300 teachers along with Rotary South, Vocational excellence award to Rtn. A V Varadarajan, President – Indian Chamber of commerce and Industry were some of the high lights of the year. The club received District awards for contribution to TRF, heart care and membership development. Certificate of merit was given for foundation activity, monthly bulletin, model school and over all programme under TRF. Rtn. P R Suresh as President and Rtn. Kannan as Secretary took over in 2001- 2002 and continued the good work done by their predecessors |
